An inmate at the San Francisco County Jail was found dead in his cell this morning.
Around 4:30 AM this morning, San Francisco Sheriff’s deputies came across a 48-year-old white man lying unresponsive in his cell on the Sixth floor of the Hall of Justice at 850 Bryant Street.
Eileen Hirst, the chief of staff at the SF Sheriff’s Department, said no information regarding the deceased prisoner would be made available until his next of kin were notified.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Department, the San Francisco Police Department and the San Francisco Medical Examiner are looking into the death.
On Saturday, Alameda resident Anthony Brand Carmignani died while being held at the Marin County Jail in San Rafael. An autopsy on the causes of Carmignani’s death is still pending.
