Two Friday shootings in the Dolores-Mission and Western Addition neighborhoods and two brawls at the Temple Nightclub on Howard Street early Sunday morning left one dead, three injured and one man brain dead.

21-year-old Antoine Galloway was shot to death on the corner of Ellis and Steiner Street around 7:30 PM on January 8, when SFPD’s gunshot detection system, ShotSpotter, was set off by gunfire. Galloway was driven to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Geary Boulevard in a cream-colored SUV, where he was pronounced dead.

Shortly before 11 PM on Friday evening, a 20-year-old man was shot five times on 20th and Dolores Street by a gunman on foot. The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Sunday morning chaos at the Temple Nightclub broke out around 1:20 AM, where two Latino men, aged 30 and 26, were attacked by unknown assailants. 30-year-old UC San Francisco medical student Joe Hernandez was knocked into a coma and suffered severe brain damage – police said the only reason Hernandez was being kept on life support was to harvest organs for donation. The suspects are described as two Asian men in their mid-20s.

Around 1:45 AM, another unrelated fight broke out inside the Temple, when two men were stabbed with broken beer bottles by three Asian men. The two victims, ages 25 and 34, were treated for non life threatening wounds. The suspects are still at large.

There have been five homicides in San Francisco to date this year. There were two murders at this point in 2010.
