Top six police log entries of the week
Police logs are fascinating snippets of community life. Some of them are more colorfully maintained by crime beat reporters and police public information officers, but tend to always carry the general flavor of the town. Entries range from the sad to comical and show the wide swath of duties that befall police officers:
Piedmont: 3:18 p.m. “A man told police that a pelican landed in his front yard and appeared lost. The bird flew off, however, as a second caller was reporting it.”
Berkeley: 11:35 p.m. “A man in his 20s bumped into a disabled woman in her wheelchair and grabbed her large black duffel from her shoulder before fleeing in the 2600 block of Parker Street. The victim had no reported injuries.”
Stinson Beach: 10:43 p.m. “A 58-year-old man said he had been home drinking rum for the past four days, and was feeling afraid. Deputies promised to take him to the hospital.”
San Francisco: 3:10 a.m. “Victim1 and Victim2 at a hotel when they came upon Suspect1-Suspect3 in the hallway. One suspect attempted to kiss V2, and V1 intervened. S1-S3 then physically attacked V1 and V2, also preventing them from leaving the hotel. Suspects subsequently arrested.”
Nicasio: 9:44 a.m. “A house-sitter reported hearing gun shots for the first time. Deputies said people were hunting around Skywalker Ranch.”
Bolinas: 11:06 p.m. “A woman who called herself a ‘world citizen’ and whose ex-husband had been 86ed from the bar, reported that the man was inside the bar, harassing her. Deputies spoke to the bartender, who said the man had not been inside the bar and was just hanging out outside, minding his own business.”
