And a protest is planned outside the state fair grounds in the wake of the shooting of a rampaging, pregnant, dairy cow there Tuesday. The cow escaped from a corral, where she was awaiting her turn giving birth in front of fair-goers. When authorities failed to contain the cow, and a tranquilizer gun malfunctioned, they shot and killed her, claiming she presented a public safety risk. There’s some controversy as to this claim–as the fair had yet to open to the public for the day. Vendors were already on the grounds.
